The Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA) has officially handed over the rehabilitated Yidna Primary Health Care (PHC) Centre in Paikoro local government area of the state to the host community, urging residents to take ownership of the facility to ensure its sustainability.
The event aligns with the New Niger Agenda of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the New Health Agenda of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare across the state.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the Executive Director of NSPHCDA, Dr. Junaidu Inuwa, noted that the success of the intervention depends on the community’s commitment to protecting and utilizing the facility.
Dr. Junaidu assured residents that if they demonstrate ownership by patronizing the health centre and safeguarding its infrastructure, the Agency will provide additional equipment and support.
The Executive Director had earlier presented essential hospital consumables to improve service delivery.
Earlier, the Director of Primary Health Care, Paikoro Local Government Area, Mr. Illyasu Ibrahim Baidna, revealed that the rehabilitation of Yidna PHC was the Executive Director’s first assignment after assuming office on February 2, 2026, following media reports highlighting the deplorable state of the facility.
Illiyasu stressed that the intervention by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, through Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana and Dr. Junaidu Inuwa, has transformed the once dilapidated health centre into a modern facility serving Yidna and neighboring communities.
Also speaking, a representative of the Chairman of the Local Government, the Supervisory Councilor, Isyaku Aminu Chichido, described the project as the first intervention of its kind in the Local Government Area and commended the state government for prioritizing rural healthcare. He urged the community to protect the investment and support health workers.
Responding on behalf of the community, the Village Head of Yidna, Mohammed Madaki, assured that residents would safeguard the facility and make good use of its services.

A community member, Hauwa M. Abdullahi, thanked the government for the intervention, noting that women previously travelled about five kilometres to access healthcare, but can now receive quality medical services within their community. She described the project as a major relief, especially for pregnant women and children.
