The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chief Tony Ojukwu, OFR (SAN) has said that a vibrant and responsible media plays a critical role in strengthening democratic institutions, while amplifying the voices of citizens, promoting accountability, and fostering a culture of respect for human rights and the rule of law.
Chief Tony Ojukwu stated this in his goodwill message on the occasion of the maiden edition of the Emporium Leadership Lecture and Awards 2026 in Abuja.
He commended the Emporium Leadership Lecture, saying “it provides a platform for robust intellectual discourse on issues of national importance”.
According to Chief Ojukwu, the milestone event is a testament to a decade of dedication to journalism, public enlightenment, and the promotion of issues that shape our society.
